Six arrested for reckless driving, selfie stunts on Tirumala Ghat Road in Andhra

Six youngsters were arrested and their car seized after they were caught engaging in reckless driving and dangerous stunts on the Tirumala Ghat Road in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, December 1, 2024. The group was found hanging from the car doors and roof, taking selfies in a high-risk manner, causing chaos on the road and endangering the lives of other motorists.
The incident occurred around 11.30 am near Harini on the Up-Ghat Road, which connects Alipiri to Tirumala. The complainant, MV Narasimha Rao, a vigilance inspector for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), reported the matter to the police later that evening.

Rao, who was on duty at the time, witnessed the black Mahindra XUV700 speeding recklessly with its occupants hanging out of the windows, shouting, and recording selfie videos. This behavior disrupted other travelers on the road.
One of the fellow motorists, who was concerned about the dangerous actions, called Rao to inform him about the incident, which was also being aired on news channels. The police then reviewed CCTV footage, which confirmed the details of the vehicle and helped identify the six individuals involved. They were later named as Sushil, Vikas, Prabhanjan, Adarsh, Ramesh, and Suman, all residents of Hyderabad.
Given the potential danger posed to other road users, the complainant requested immediate legal action against the individuals for their reckless behavior. The police have registered a case under relevant sections, and the accused were arrested for their actions, which violated traffic safety regulations and endangered the public.
